I am continually amazed at the immense power of the Internet. The sheer ability to spread good or mirth rapidly and globally…. The raw power of YouTube videos to raise awareness of social injustices amazes me. The ability to share your opinions to hundreds if not thousands of people via twitter world wide all most instantaneous almost frightens me.
With this awesome unrestricted ability to connect us globally comes those that want to cause harm and there are those that want to spread a little mirth in the world (make us smile). Earlier this week on Facebook hundreds of people posted a link to www.thechive.com in support of poor Jenny, who quit her job via the Internet. I suspected it was a hoax or not true. Based solely on the site it was coming from. But I was not 100% sure of it myself.
I love the fact that this video was shot and editted entirely on an iPhone 4.
This is using modern tools and technology and then going back to the basics… This is proof when you know and are good at your craft. You can achieve amazing results with the most simple tools.
I was off camping with family last week and it was a fantastic week, fun had by all. We biked, we hiked, we ate lots of great food, roasted marshmallows and some even made the family campfire favorite – smores. I’m not a big fan on the whole smore concoction, but I do like all the pieces from the smore individually.
Because of the +35 C temperature durning our vacation we found ourselves on the beach, alot! It was the time spent on the beach that my thoughts on body image come from. My niece Sam, made the comment that her mother shouldn’t be wearing a bikini – her mother was old and women in there early 40′s shouldn’t wear bikini’s. Which I thought was odd, as my sister in-law Lori actually looked great in her bikini. Truth be told, Lori’s figure in her 40′s is far better than most women today in their 20′s. Lori has worked hard at the gym to keep her figure, so I think a little showing off was warranted.
So this comment by my niece got me thinking. . . What are our conscious and unconscious thoughts on our own personal body image? When do we become aware of our body and our body image?
How comfortable are you in your own skin? I think based on the sheer number of elective plastic surgery procedures done in North America, I would say a resounding no! I am personally very comfortable with my body image.
